Love The Void: Etsy Find

Datamancer
Fashion for your computer. As a longtime fan of Datamancer's work, I had to blog and say that I want this keyboard so f**king bad it hurts, -I can almost feel my fingers fondling the black leather padding and drawing tiny spirals on the raised, vintage keys. Yes. Please. It's like porn for your gadgets. Saving the pennies. Breathtaking Steampunkery at it's finest and he does custom for Macs -I'm almost tempted to ask him about future Ipad mods, if he hasn't made them already.

Sean Delonas
One of my latest projects is slowly collecting a variety of curios for a wall above my art-space. I've been a long-time aficianado of Wunderkammer and oddities and these illustrations by Sean Delonas are nothing short of amazing. So far, I've dubbed the project "Wunderwall"...I think one of these babies framed would be an excellent addition to my growing collection of peculiarities.

I originally caught wind of this designer from Luxirare and I *had* to blog additionally about it. Anastasia Radevich, nothing short of amazing. Her shoes look like little, exquisite sculptures, fragile in form yet somehow wholly complete and solid. Modern, intricate, beautiful.... Love!

In Wolves Clothing
is a show that revolves around our enduring fascination with and use of dolls in contemporary visual language.
"Today, high art and high fashion’s enthralment with the doll as a medium with a message continues. From Matell’s Barbie who has literally — albeit unexpectedly — pioneered high-powered jobs for woman over the last sixty years to the newly celebrated Enchanted Doll by Marina Bychkova telling a tale of vulnerability beneath layers of elaborate costuming, the art form continues to be a metaphor of personal identity. Lara Swift
I'm reminded of the legendary Sibyls, prophetesses of old antiquity, most reknown from Delphi. With diaphonous textures, fluid forms and feminine beauty, Lara Swift's images conjure up mythological and mystical worlds in heaping portions. Soft and sensual images that seem to celebrate the female form, leap off the page like Bottecelli's Venus de Milo, or the Three Muses, her work is definitely not to be missed. The Paper Runway
If the world were made of paper, I certainly wouldn't mind, and viewing HCCC's recent exhibit, The Paper Runway, I could at least get an idea of what it would be like, if all my clothes were made from paper. From a series of LBD's to a gorgeous black and white cut-out gown, a jacket made of hair and teabags, to a full suit cut from lottery tickets...this show was to die for. Artists from all ilks represented their interpretations, right down to tissued net skirts that flowed gently like the lightest of gossamer fabrics. A gorgeous Kimono-esque gown stood by itself and hypnotized me with its patterns and colors, while a delicate child's apron sat suspended with prints of Godzilla displayed like fine toile from a French chateau. Pretty sweet. The Paper Runway is definitely a feast of textural bliss, taking the art of adornment to a whole new level and throwing out inspiration like a virus. The connection between clothing and identity is a strong one and the pieces on display seem to convey this message nicely. If you live in H-town, I'd highly recommend checking out the show. Runs from June 4 - September 5.
